Hodia Shooting Stars Day Camp is for children 4– 8 years old. Exact ages for this program are based on camper readiness. We hope that children 8 years old and above will graduate up to sleep-away camp, Hodia Kids Camp, when they are ready. We will make age exceptions on a case-by-case basis. For questions, please contact us (208)891-1023 ext. 4.
While at day camp, campers get to participate in a variety of activities around the valley, while gaining useful skills and making lifelong friends. Campers interact with other kids and adults with type 1 diabetes who can teach them critical self-care skills in a safe and welcoming environment. Some of our activities include trips to the aquarium, nature center, discovery center and more!
For some campers, this is the first time they have a chance to meet peers with diabetes, giving them the opportunity to learn from each other and showing them that they are not alone with their disease. We teach our Hodia Shooting Stars to shine by helping them learn about living confidently with diabetes. They practice balancing meals with insulin and activity. They also discuss how to deal with the reality of diabetes and be happy, healthy, normal kids!
Camp will begin each day at 10:00am and conclude at 4:00pm.
Parents should plan to drop off and pick up their campers. We will have an information session for parents on the first day immediately following camper check-in. We hope you will come join us for a fabulous year!
