Welcome To HODIA Wilderness Camp
Hodia Wilderness Camp is a new program brought to you by the same staff that runs Hodia Teen Camp, Hodia Kid's Camp, Hodia Shooting Stars and Hodia Ski Camp. Hodia Wilderness Camp is accredited by the American Camping Association, which demands rigorous safety and quality standards.

Hodia WIlderness Camp is a program that will be held every 2-3 years for our older campers.

Hodia Wilderness Camp provides an environment for youth to break down the physical and mental barriers that result from Type 1 diabetes.

Participants
Due to trail restrictions, Hodia Wilderness Camp will be limited to only 20 participants including staff. Campers are eligible if they are between the ages of 15 and 19. Participants and staff will be chosen based on a formal application process. Unfortunately, not all campers that apply to Wilderness Camp will be accepted due to the trail restrictions, demands of the program and results of an individual phone interview.  Participants will be given priority based on age, application (date and content), and motivation to participate.

Note that ALL camper participants at Hodia Wilderness Camp are required to submit a complete physical examination form completed by your physician. This physical must have been done within 12 months of the date of camp. You may download an IDYP physical examination form here. Note also that proof of current tetanus immunization is requried for participation at Hodia WIlderness camp (vaccination within 5 years prior to camp).

Location
Hodia Wilderness Camp will be backpacking in Idaho's mountains in various locations.

Activities
Hodia Wilderness Camp will involve a substantial hike to one of Idaho's pristine areas. The camp is intended to give participants and staff the opportunity to backpack through many areas in Idaho. We will make base camp and then have various hikes and activities centered around our base camp. The camp will last 5-7 days typically - but may change from year to year. Wilderness Camp will offer a mixture of adventure programs, serious discussion groups, and hang out time. The program offers teens the opportunity to share common experiences, to meet others with diabetes, and to form meaningful friendships. Knowing diabetes is a major burden, we strive to find ways to carry the load. We provide diabetes education, but our main interest is preparation for adulthood.
